WHAT: The Hounds and their pet NPCs of the moment take a submarine up from the first of many sealed Avernian Gates
WHERE: Somewhere in the ocean, off the coasts of South America
WHEN: September 19, 2063 (7:00 PM to about 10:00 PM)
SAFE FOR WORK? Other than Drake's potty mouth? Probably.
OTHER NOTES: None!


[This submarine is typical Vice Military Solutions fare - that is, it's definitely more impressive than anything that the World of Light has to offer, but it's pretty average for any Keeper of the Vigil whose used to what Vice Enterprises has to offer with regard to transport.

You're all getting your own rooms to rest up in, and you have free reign of the ship right down to the bridge. You may want to lounge around in the large common area for crew and guests alike: it's got an impressive bar, and the cafeteria kitchen has been opened for your convenience.]

[This will probably catch your attention after the group disperses: your boy already doing the rounds and being a Malice King around the submarine without even thinking to change his clothes, or dry off.

Yep. Either he forgot all about it, or once again, he doesn't give a shit about his own personal welfare in light of Taking Care of Things.]

[ He's ducking away briefly to ask one of the ops that isn't manning the sub where he can grab a towel. He doesn't explain why beyond a nod in Hikaru's direction.

When it's finally handed his way, he folds it up, comes over and catches the Blade King by the elbow. ] Borrow you for a bit?

[...Oh. Blinking, first up at your face, then at what you've got in your hand, then back up at you.]

Sure.

[ And that's a shake of the head accompanied by a chuckle as he steps off with you towards one of the side rooms that is currently unoccupied.

When you two are finally alone ( because it only occured to him the moment that he had your attention that this was going to look a wee bit embarrassing ) he is dropping that towel over your shoulders and proceeds to dry out your hair. ]

I know you are practically a force of nature but you can still get sick.

[ You might note that his tone is very, very dry. ]

[Chuckling at that, and obediently settling down on the nearest chair in order to let you fuss over him.]

It's almost like you forgot that part about me being waterproof.

[He's just messing with you, really.]

[ He's following you and letting you sit before he lifts that brow of his and continues to dry you off. ]

You might be, but your clothes aren't.

[ Being submerged in water doesn't get a body sick. It's the refusing to dry off that sometimes does. ]

But if you're perfectly fine with tracking wet all over the sub... [ he tosses you a look that says I can totally stop fussing like a mother hen. He's even making a move to step back. ]

[He'll take the soonest opportunity to dip his face up and catch your lips with his own. Give him a bit...

There. Breaking off with a smile.]

[That is his way of telling you that he is perfectly fine with you fussing.]

[ Okay, you win.

For the record, he is attempting to bite back the smile that's tugging at the corner of his mouth and mouthing a soft: ] You're welcome.

[ He doesn't say anything after that, he's kind of focusing on getting as much of the damp out as he can. ]

[He's all right with that, because that gives him the opportunity to well. Watch you.

Hopefully you don't find it too bothersome or creepy. You're kind of really nice to watch.]

What he will do, though, is occasionally look over at you with a questioning look, as if to ask if anything is wrong or if there is anything you need.

A few minutes later though, he's asking softly: ] Do the gates look as creepy as that last one?

No. They're usually just long, creepy descents into the upper levels of the Underworld.

[Blinking up at.]

I'm going to check the post-engagement report on that one. I was picking up some pretty strange signals from it.

[ Huh. That's... reassuring.

He's pulling up an extra seat now so that he can sit right across from you. ]

Strange... how?

It was like I was looking a rip, or an entrance to the Other World or the Borderlines. The energy was Stygian, but everything else...

[Everything else felt wrong.]

Anyway, it's a good thing that Drake was able to seal it.

[larue]

[ Josh is giving you a look at that -- one borne of curiosity. ]

What would have happened if he hadn't?

[ Been able to close it, that is. ]

It likely would have become a rip into the Other World, or it would have collapsed and created an Anomaly.

[Which is a pretty big deal.]

That wouldn't have happened, though. If he hadn't sealed it, I would have.

[larue]

[ Ah. That... would have been pretty bad. ]

Do you think the other gates will be like that?

[ A beat, then: ] The ones that opened. The ones you said weren't supposed to be in this area.

They probably will be.

[Tilting head at.]

Don't worry about it too much, though.

[They were around, and there were other good operatives in the area who could handle the Gates.]

[ It actually isn't that he's worried... more curious.

He's nodding mutely at your response though and sliding his gaze away.

You're mostly dry now, as far as he can tell. He should probably release you since he'd interrupted you while you were doing your rounds. ]

[Noting that, and then reaching out to wrap his hands around your wrists as he's smiling up at you.]

Join me for a bit?

[The rounds can wait.]

[ The tension he hadn't realized had gathered along the line of his shoulders disperses as soon as you ask him to stay. ]

I've got nothing better to do. [ Saying that casually and with a quiet smile as he moves his wrists from your grip and replaces them with the way his fingers tangle with yours. He'll need to check in with everyone else later, maybe speak a little with Father Badd about that ceremony back there -- but all that can wait. ]

So I'm just "nothing better" now, is it?

[Teasingly, right before he's nipping a bit at your fingers.]

[ He's about to protest when that teasing note in your voice makes it click.

Walked right into that one, LaRue. ]

That's one way of turning that phrase to your benefit.

[ He'll catch your chin and tip your face up so that he can kiss you -- it's not like anyone is around to tease the two of you anyway. ]

[Letting that kiss go on for a bit before breaking away, with another one of his smiles. Then he's going for his cigarettes.]

I'm just glad that none of you guys got hurt down there.

[ He'll chuckle softly. Because that was some pretty creepy shit down there. ]

Well, we had pretty solid company along for the trip.

[ A smile, a shrug. ] Father Badd was pretty impressive.

[ Not to say that you weren't -- but the Underworld is kind of... yours. ]
