The Team Death Wish that many(?) within the United Vigil have grown to love (or hate) might have always been comprised of fatalistic kids, but there wasn't always just ten of them. Their members met others along the way, or were drawn together by the machinations of some Malice Kings - but while those "others" have moved on to other things, the core group has continued to stick together.
Team Death Wish also has a number of folks who don't officially belong to the blade anymore, but do try their best to help out. Not all of them are willingly along for the ride, but hey: we all gotta do what we all gotta do to save the world, right?

Charity Cruz's unfortunate disappearance (and death) in Mapayapa, Batangas was what spurned Diamond Dog and his friends at Bakunawa Operations to search for answers back when they were still mortals. She ended up re-entering D's life at the same time that the rest of Team Death Wish stumbled into it for the first time.
D first made Chari the guardian ghost of his Sanctum. Later, when Team Death Wish got a warehouse of their own, he worked to make her a homunculus body that she could possess. He fucked up a little bit (hence the handprint across her face and neck), but that's okay. Chari likes to think of it as D's personal touch on her.
