Many within the World of Light of Waking the Dead wonder why Brent International School seems so insular. Its students are an interesting lot that truly keeps to themselves; its alumni rarely ever stay on Philippine soil, and most seem to disappear from the general public barely 2-3 years after graduating. Now, following the breaking of the Veil, people know the answer.
Brent International School is one of the Fifth World’s few “Hunter Academies” – that is, a school dedicated to raising and training Keepers of the Vigil, and facilitating the ease of transition into an awareness of the World of Darkness for their loved ones. On an interesting note, the concept of Hunter Academies was something that Riley Falner – the Daywalker – came up with. Brent is one of the few who has followed his specifications as strictly as they could.

Psychic(?); Sophomore Year, Class 7 A sophomore student at Brent, although she WOULD be in her senior year if she wasn’t sick. Sent down on nominal probation by the Labyrinth in San Francisco after a training exercise went south, effectively bonding her to a strange pair of swords that only speak to her. The Relics in Akira’s possession seem to suck the life out of her, but also appear to be awakening her latent supernatural abilities. The faculty at Brent is still attempting to determine what’s going on, all in the interest of saving the girl’s life.

The Tendo Family is several centuries old, and have always produced monks, priestesses, philosophers, and otherwise esoteric individuals of repute. They are close associates of Zangyaku, but have always sworn allegiance to Orin the Green.
Akira is one of Clark's friends. People USED to think they were dating, but the two of them find that rumor disgusting. They view each other as family.
Now that Aegis Kai Doru is in the country, Akira is attempting to gain permission from Brent and from Vriska herself to do part-time work for the conspiracy. She was banking on the fact that proximity to her campus would make things easier (she was originally training with the operatives from the Labyrinth in Nara). It's not going so well.
Akira, like many other students of Brent, has been advised to remain on campus while the administration sorts things out. The world has, after all, turned upside down.
