BRENT INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL Many within the World of Light of Waking the Dead wonder why Brent International School seems so insular. Its students are an interesting lot that truly keeps to themselves; its alumni rarely ever stay on Philippine soil, and most seem to disappear from the general public barely 2-3 years after graduating. Now, following the breaking of the Veil, people know the answer. Brent International School is one of the Fifth World’s few “Hunter Academies” – that is, a school dedicated to raising and training Keepers of the Vigil, and facilitating the ease of transition into an awareness of the World of Darkness for their loved ones. On an interesting note, the concept of Hunter Academies was something that Riley Falner – the Daywalker – came up with. Brent is one of the few who has followed his specifications as strictly as they could.

CASSANDRA "CASSIE" BLAKE Alias: None Sin-Eater [Silent Reaper; Geist: Sweetheart]; Grade Six, Section 1 A 12-year-old Sin-Eater of particular skill who “died” while locked in the basement of her physically and sexually abusive father. She spent some time with the Philippine chapter of the Midnight Riders, and developed a reputation for herself as “the Finder”. Her abilities allowed her to recover pretty much anything for her surrogate family. She’s recently been dropped off at Brent to start a new life for herself, although she’s been very clear to whoever asks that she intends to join the Midnight Riders when she’s older – if Shane and Calintz will have her, at any rate. PLOT POINTS AS OF 03 OCTOBER 2016 Cassie's education and financial support is being funded by the Vice Conglomerate. Her legal guardian, however, is Mercedes Ciela herself. The Headmistress is the one who is, on paper, the guardian of any children who aren't otherwise claimed by a compact/conspiracy in the Vigil or an institution/institutional figure from beyond the Veil. The reason why Cassie wants to join the Riders is because she was saved by one. She never did manage to get his name, though... Like the rest of the students in her position (along with plenty of others who have been displaced by the breaking of the Veil), Cassie is still on campus even if school is out. The administration wants to keep them safe until they can figure out how to proceed.
