1. First Day At Falner
You have just arrived at Falner Estate, a sprawling, beautiful, 400-hectare co-located space between Britain, Germany, and the Philippines, and the main base of Netsach. The flora and fauna in the area gives both a sense of familiarity as it looks at first glance like things you’ll find on Earth, and a weird sense of otherworldliness. Given the size of the place, the Estate is less of a compound and more like a town unto itself. The older buildings within the estate are gothic in their construction, and clear throwbacks to 19th Century Europe. The newer facilities, however, sport cutting edge contemporary designs that were clearly inspired by Fourth World architecture and technology.

2. A Day On The Job
You are pushing papers at Methuselah, doing research at the Arcanum, or going out on patrol -- whatever it is that you're doing, it's just another day for you as a Hunter of the Vigil.


3. Let's Head Down to Haven
Find yourself itching for a night out on the town? Why not head over to Haven, the classy nightclub that looks like a large, monolithic black building with no visible windows from the outside and the name of the club emblazoned in bold, white letters on one side.

Haven is located in Makati City, and is open to the public (especially the local supernatural community), but you might want to prepare yourself to wait in line for a very, very long time – unless you’re a Hunter, of course.

Falner’s Maenad Division holds office on top of Haven, as does Ordo Daywalker. Some of Haven’s staff also live above the night club.


4. The Awakening

"Great. I'd hate to have to pay to rest my feet around here."

She smiles as she sits down with just enough respectable distance between them, and then extends her hand in his direction. She's still got her Methuselah coat on, although there are civvies beneath it. She's off-duty today.

"Bonnie Rivers. You are?"

He shakes her hand firmly. "Alek Sokolov. Well. Rivers these days, I guess." The newcomer doesn't sound thrilled about it. "How's the Rivers thing working out for you?"

"It's working out pretty well. That wasn't always the case, of course."

She doesn't have to add that last statement, but she did note the way that you sounded back there. Legacy can be a difficult thing, especially when you weren't looking for it in the first place.

"Do you mind if I smoke?"

Asking that casually, as she's pulling a flask out of her coat. It has the insignia of the Rivers Hunters on it.

"If I minded, I wouldn't be smoking. Do what you like, I don't own the place." The mark doesn't go unnoticed, but he doesn't comment on it for now.

"Thanks. I just wanted to make sure."

She pauses there, mostly because she wants to light up. Then she's holding the flask out in the man's direction.

"Have some. It's good whiskey."

He looks at the flask dubiously, but takes it anyway. "Can't say I've ever had the pleasure of good whiskey." He begins to unscrew the top of the flask. "Is that a usual thing around here?"

"Drinking, smoking, and all forms of vice? Yes to the drinking and smoking part. As for the rest..."

Bonnie shrugs lightly, and smiles.

"As long as they don't get in the way of doing one's job or the op's getting too excessive, the higher ups let everyone else do as they like."

He takes a short swig from the bottle and... damn, she's not wrong, that is good stuff. "Take it before the higher ups say I'm getting too excessive," he says as he hands her the flask with an easy grin. "What's it like? Being a Rivers, I mean."

"Honestly? If you subtract that whole part about you quite possibly dying on the job and the occasional moments of Real Fear--" Yes, Alek, you'll be able to hear the capitalization there, "--it's pretty nice. The particulars tend to depend on the family line, though."

Bonnie pauses there, and stretches much like a well-satisfied cat.

"Being one of the Rivers gave me a lot of focus, that's for sure."

"They should've given the job to my sister, she would've loved it. My actual sister, I mean," Alek clarifies. "Apparently dad's got himself a kid in ever other area code. He's really focused on the job, I guess."

Both of her eyebrows go up at that.

"What's your dad's name, and what do you guys specialize in dealing with? I admit that I'm not too familiar with all of the Rivers lines that are out there."

He twists his lips, thinking. "Samir," he answers cautiously. "I think. I'm still trying to get that all worked out. Mom didn't talk about him too much."

She notes the cautious note in your tone, but keeps her expression nice and easy.

"Well, it's a good thing that you're in Falner? The people down here can help you out, if you like."

'Help' could mean a whole lot of things: Bonnie knows this ell. But she also knows for a fact that Netsach's always inclined to do what's best for the people who come to the Estate.

He breathes in slowly. Help isn't much what he wants as so much he needs to get. "He fought a lot and everywhere. Demons were scared of him, but I thought it was all just a bunch of stories. You know, like, figurative demons. Maybe that's what he fought."

"Lots of those stories aren't figurative anymore these days."

As Bonnie is saying that, she's remembering, distinctly, her own struggle with the reality of her family's "legacy". It had felt even crazier for her because the Veil had still been intact.

"I can't really give you any leads on your family, but I would like to see what I can do for you."
