1. First Day At Falner
You have just arrived at Falner Estate, a sprawling, beautiful, 400-hectare co-located space between Britain, Germany, and the Philippines, and the main base of Netsach. The flora and fauna in the area gives both a sense of familiarity as it looks at first glance like things you’ll find on Earth, and a weird sense of otherworldliness. Given the size of the place, the Estate is less of a compound and more like a town unto itself. The older buildings within the estate are gothic in their construction, and clear throwbacks to 19th Century Europe. The newer facilities, however, sport cutting edge contemporary designs that were clearly inspired by Fourth World architecture and technology.

2. A Day On The Job
You are pushing papers at Methuselah, doing research at the Arcanum, or going out on patrol -- whatever it is that you're doing, it's just another day for you as a Hunter of the Vigil.


3. Let's Head Down to Haven
Find yourself itching for a night out on the town? Why not head over to Haven, the classy nightclub that looks like a large, monolithic black building with no visible windows from the outside and the name of the club emblazoned in bold, white letters on one side.

Haven is located in Makati City, and is open to the public (especially the local supernatural community), but you might want to prepare yourself to wait in line for a very, very long time – unless you’re a Hunter, of course.

Falner’s Maenad Division holds office on top of Haven, as does Ordo Daywalker. Some of Haven’s staff also live above the night club.


4. The Awakening

"I don't know? Maybe it's just my imagination." Ella is absolutely wrong anyway, considering Ordo Daywalker managed Haven for a good while.

"Both the Covenant and Ordo have meeting places. I don't know if they are Elysium, but there is no shortage of safe ground. The ones in the Covenant like to argue about pretty much anything though. "

After a short trip they finally arrive to Haven, which is packed. Entering soon seems like an impossible task until a bouncer notices Barbie's Day Ring in Ella's hand and motions her to step in. She quickly does so, not before grabbing Mason by the arm and dragging him in. "Don't ask, just walk."

Mason does exactly that and simply allows her to guide him through the club. From the way he's looking around, it's immediately obvious that he very likely hasn't been in a club in ages.

"Wait. How many of the people in here are...mortal?"

Ella looks around for a moment before shrugging.

"A bunch? It's open to anyone after all. Problem?"

"Nothing at all, it's actually great. It's just...new to me."

He can't help but eye the crowd around him. It really is strange for someone accustomed to having mortals brought to him like cattle, seeing so many normal human beings just milling about with so many different supernatural...things.

"So. Where to?"

"Just. Don't bite anyone? Even if they ask, because I've heard there is that kind of people. Better not get into trouble right away." Plus she feels like whatever Mason does is her responsibility.

She points ahead. "The bar? I guess they have blood there."

"Serving blood at the bar. What will they think of next?"

In truth he is no stranger to having blood served the same way a mortal would pass around drinks, but not so...casually. The thought of ordering blood would have been strange to most vampires back home, perhaps downright offensive to the higher-ups in Detroit's Invictus circles. To them blood poured into a glass was taken from cattle: mortals enslaved, dominated or simply cajoled into nourishing the undead.

"Does it come in, uhh, flavors?"

"Maybe freezing it and make blood ice cream? I would totally have some of that." And it kind of sounds like an awesome idea, as long as you're a vampire of course.

Ella shrugs. "I don't know Mason, it's a fancy bar." They reach the bar and Ella waves a bartender as she tries to mask her insecurity; she never was a party girl, and the fangs haven't made her any less of a study driven, book loving kind of person. "Do you have blood in like, flavors?"

The guy stares at her, clearly unimpressed at this newbie vampire, and then at Mason, perhaps a bit more appreciatively. He then nods.

"Well then," Ella says as she turns to Mason. "What flavor?"

A brief pause as he figures out the least awkward way to say it. Finally he puts on the best smirk he can as he makes as smug a declaration as he can manage.

"I'll have Italian on the rocks, if you please."

Ella is about to burst in laughter when she notices the bartender, ever serious, nods once and turns towards her, obviously expecting her order. Well fudge.

"Ah...vanilla?"

The bartender nods and turns around, muttering something about fancy extravagant vampires or what not.

It's Mason's turn to get the awkward serious stare as the bartender actually complies, handing over a glass with some iced blood in it.

"Ahh, cheers?"

More of that 'I can't believe these vampires' look.

"No? Oh...kay."

He takes a sip while turning to his companion.

"Well, not quite like taking it fresh but hey, I got what I asked for."

He continues the occasional sip as if he were, for all intents and purposes, having a glass of scotch.

Ella receives her glass, which looks a bit like a strawberry frappe. The taste is most certainly blood though, and it's really good. She takes a couple more of sips before thinking about Mason's words.

"I haven't done that yet," she says. "Drinking from a living being, that is. Ordo Daywalker only bites criminals, so I guess I should get used to blood bags for now. Biting someone I might work with later feels too weird anyway."

"Most vampires outside'd tell you that it's something you gotta do. They've got this whole 'we're predators and they're prey' thing going."

Just for effect he swirls the ice in his glass a bit.

"I'm actually pretty relieved that there's a place people teach differently about...what we are."

"I think that's basically how vampires have seen themselves for a while now? Although the breaking of the Veil was supposed to change that." She drinks more, thoughts still spinning around her own nature and how well/bad she's doing the part.

"If you stick around you might even get convinced? What did you do back home?"

"Petty theft, mostly. Jump in a window here, pick a lock there. That sorta stuff."

He seriously wonders to himself if he should go around telling other people about the other thing he used to do back home. That thing.

"Your turn. What'd you do before dying?"

"I can't see why would Barbara drag you all the way here for petty thieving. You got something big, didn't you?"

Ella just shrugs and takes another sip. "I was an student. Law and Diplomacy. That hasn't changed much, although I guess I have a higher chance of joining a conspiracy."

"Well, I happen to be the prince of Detroit."

One can almost hear it said with a small p, compared to how the 'Prince with a Capital P' title is reserved for the Daywalker himself. He doesn't make the revelation with any pride or smugness: it's more like he's got one of those shifty 'you wouldn't believe me even if I told you but yeah I just did' looks on his face.

"Oh."

That's all he gets for a moment, because she didn't see that coming. Not at all.

"Congrats?"

"Probably doesn't mean diddly-squat anymore though, considering I'm over here and Detroit's kinda over there. In fact, Inquisitor Gomez probably couldn't have picked a better time to hall my ass outta that shithole."

"Oh. You did mention trouble. Not for you if you're still around though. Who knows, you might still recover you...kingdom?"

And she tries to give him a reassuring smile.

(OOC: Crud, only noticed "hall my ass" after that comment. Pfft.)

"The only way I'm going back is probably with more Netsach people and a lot of guns." He emphasizes this by making a finger gun and 'shooting' it at the air.

"Still, I'm liking it better here already. I never did have a thing for... politics."

"So you're planning to stick around? That might work too. I mean, if you ask for help, Netsach might actually give it to you, I think?"

But she knew only a bit of it. "You didn't tell me what you did while alive though, or was that the thief part? From that to prince in a month..."

"Yup, that was pretty much it for my mortal life. Streets of the city and all that. The only reason I ended up a prince was that I got Sired by the last one, who managed to get herself assassinated."

"All within a month? Wow."

Talk about an exciting time. "Well, at least nobody is going to try to kill you here." Ella finishes her drink and toys with the glass absentmindedly. "I must say, you seem like a pretty okay guy."

"Well, you tend to go over your life choices after you die."

He chuckles to himself a bit as he finishes off his drink.

"Really? I feel the same, only that sometimes the living make me salivate and my mood is a bit on edge as of late." And other stuff, but she wasn't sure how to explain them.

"Why did your sire Embrace you? I mean, if that's not prying."
