testdrive meme.
1. First Day At Falner
You have just arrived at Falner Estate, a sprawling, beautiful, 400-hectare co-located space between Britain, Germany, and the Philippines, and the main base of Netsach. The flora and fauna in the area gives both a sense of familiarity as it looks at first glance like things you’ll find on Earth, and a weird sense of otherworldliness. Given the size of the place, the Estate is less of a compound and more like a town unto itself. The older buildings within the estate are gothic in their construction, and clear throwbacks to 19th Century Europe. The newer facilities, however, sport cutting edge contemporary designs that were clearly inspired by Fourth World architecture and technology.
If you want a better idea on what can be found on the estate, you can refer to this link.
2. A Day On The Job
You are pushing papers at Methuselah, doing research at the Arcanum, or going out on patrol -- whatever it is that you're doing, it's just another day for you as a Hunter of the Vigil.
3. Let's Head Down to Haven
Find yourself itching for a night out on the town? Why not head over to Haven, the classy nightclub that looks like a large, monolithic black building with no visible windows from the outside and the name of the club emblazoned in bold, white letters on one side.
Haven is located in Makati City, and is open to the public (especially the local supernatural community), but you might want to prepare yourself to wait in line for a very, very long time – unless you’re a Hunter, of course.
Falner’s Maenad Division holds office on top of Haven, as does Ordo Daywalker. Some of Haven’s staff also live above the night club.
4. The Awakening
Want to tag out your character's origin story? Set the stage and let's see where things go.
5. Choose Your Own Adventure
If none of the suggested premises hit the mark, feel free to set things up and let's do a tag round.
Instructions for the Testdrive:
1. Specify your chosen scenario number on the subject line.
2. Should you wish to tag with a specific character already established within Waking the Dead, indicate who. The current list of available NPCs can be found over here.
CLOSING this thread since it's option 4! Bri, make another open post for other options. :0
(In actuality, she's looking for possible threats and measuring the situation. She couldn't give a lesser fuck about furniture and other shit right now.)
She isn't alone tonight: her husband, Alejandro Raura, walks to her left. The rest of her entourage is just beyond the door, waiting. Enough about them for the moment, though: she's walking towards Mason with a smile.
"Good evening. I'm sure you heard that I was coming."
Just, what Mason probably didn't hear was when or how.
Re: CLOSING this thread since it's option 4! Bri, make another open post for other options. :0
Fuck fuck fuck fuck shit shit shit...
"Ahh, Inquisitor...Gomez."
He instinctively starts to reach for his guns, but his head catches up with his hands; he manages to restrain himself and turn that motion into nothing more than a slight twitch. Higher station. Entertain the guests.
"Welcome to Detroit. Can I get you anything? Some refreshments, perhaps? Please, have a seat."
no subject
Saying that without the smile on her face ever wavering. She sits down, arranges herself perfectly on one of the chairs close to Mason's desk. Then she's reaching into her purse, and bringing out her cigarette case.
"It's been a while since I've been to this office."
Huzzah, posting at home means I can has icons!
The prince of Detroit attempts to look like he's in control, leaning into his seat like the person who owns the place that he is. Keep it together, Macey. Keep your shit together.
"And to what do I owe this return, esteemed Golden Hand? Business or pleasure?"
It was truly deplorable how the Invictus protocols demanded all these formalities, but as a figurehead of their rule in the city he knew that he was obliged to go through all the motions. Repetitive, annoying and unnecessary motions. Just say the word, ma'am...
no subject
She pauses there, in favor of thumbing out a cigarette, setting it on the Prohibition Era-worthy cigarette holder she's brought out of her purse, lighting up, and taking that initial drag.
"I think you're smart enough to know why I'm here, representing Netsach."
If Mason wasn't, Barbie was going to be thoroughly disappointed.
no subject
A nod to some goon stationed at the door, who promptly shuts it and gives both prince and Golden Hand some privacy. He takes a quick glance around the room just to be sure that there's no one else, and promptly drops the obviously-faked 'regal bearing' act, leaning in and significantly dropping his volume.
"We've," immediately catches himself, "I've been waiting for you for awhile now, ma'am. I'm pretty sure you've heard of how...things have been going lately."
Eyes flit from side to side. Another quick scan of the room. Wish I bothered learning Auspex.
"It's probably worse than they told you it is. Based on what I've seen, pretty much everyone who's dead here hates literally everyone else in here."
no subject
Barbie smiles, like nothing is wrong at all. (Probably because in her opinion, everything really IS fine. She isn't Erinyes or the Golden Hand for nothing.)
"I'm just going to stay with you and have a good, long chat while they handle the situation."
'Handle'. Hunter speak, at least on the Netsach end of things, for Lots of Arrests and Maybe A Few Final Deaths.
no subject
This completely stalls him. He was mentally preparing himself for a Netsach extraction that'd involve a running battle in the streets against all those Invictus douchebags he wanted to shoot in the face, and now he's suddenly given a promise of some...pleasant conversation.
"So, umm."
Nervous fidgeting in his seat.
"How was your flight?"
no subject
"Great, actually! I could have ported here, but I love travelling first class. How has your weeknights been lately?"
Was that a scream somewhere on the bottom floors? Was that gunfire?
Yes and yes. A member of her entourage is dual-licensed with Zangyaku. She's a little... overeager.
no subject
"Most...restful. I get stellar accommodations up here as you can see."
As if on cue, gunfire sounds off in the streets below and beyond the veranda at the far end of the room. Aaaaaand he's a runner!
no subject
She winks.
"We're not a charity service, after all. Not for Men With Means."
And the way Barbie speaks, the capitalization is clear. In the meantime, there's another gunshot, and then silence. There's also some movement in the bottom floors. Their floor, though, is eerily quiet.
OOC: Btw Bri, actual game starts on the in-game date of June 12 2066. We need to sort out when this thread happened. Ping me on plurk?
no subject
"If I didn't know any better, ma'am, I'd say this is starting to sound like a job interview."
He stands up and throws spreads his arms out in the classic 'well, you got me' motion.
"Consider my resume submitted, Inquisitor Gomez."
Make an Intelligence + Politics roll? Apply specialties for Kindred or the Vigil accordingly.
"Wonderful. I suppose you know enough about us hunters to be able to tell me which conspiracy you'd like to sign up for?"
Maybe Mason is intelligent enough to realize that, at this point, he might not have a choice. Netsach was being nice about things, but regardless of his decision, his princedom over Detroit was probably over, as was his life as a free vampire. They were going to watch him, and they were going to be back if something else happened.
Maybe.
Int 2 + Politics 1 (no specialties): 2, 5, 8 = 1 success.
He says the word as if he's been getting ready to say it all his life, when in truth he only learned of the Vigil's conspiracies during his 'education' from his sire last month -- and even then only in passing. The one closest to Ordo Daywalker. The one that takes down the most rogue Kindred.
no subject
"Somehow, I knew you'd say that."
Barbie then sits back, and crosses her legs. The scuffling on the lower floors has stopped. Netsach is, if for anything else, efficient. Hell, there won't even be a spot of blood on the floor by the time they head down.
"You'll meet with the Kaiser once we get to Falner. I'll come with you, of course."
Is this thread more-or-less wrapped up?
