1. First Day At Falner
You have just arrived at Falner Estate, a sprawling, beautiful, 400-hectare co-located space between Britain, Germany, and the Philippines, and the main base of Netsach. The flora and fauna in the area gives both a sense of familiarity as it looks at first glance like things you’ll find on Earth, and a weird sense of otherworldliness. Given the size of the place, the Estate is less of a compound and more like a town unto itself. The older buildings within the estate are gothic in their construction, and clear throwbacks to 19th Century Europe. The newer facilities, however, sport cutting edge contemporary designs that were clearly inspired by Fourth World architecture and technology.

2. A Day On The Job
You are pushing papers at Methuselah, doing research at the Arcanum, or going out on patrol -- whatever it is that you're doing, it's just another day for you as a Hunter of the Vigil.


3. Let's Head Down to Haven
Find yourself itching for a night out on the town? Why not head over to Haven, the classy nightclub that looks like a large, monolithic black building with no visible windows from the outside and the name of the club emblazoned in bold, white letters on one side.

Haven is located in Makati City, and is open to the public (especially the local supernatural community), but you might want to prepare yourself to wait in line for a very, very long time – unless you’re a Hunter, of course.

Falner’s Maenad Division holds office on top of Haven, as does Ordo Daywalker. Some of Haven’s staff also live above the night club.

She had noticed the blond the moment she walked in, but Sophie knew better than to stare like an idiot. Still, even though she hadn't been 100% sure the deceptively delicate girl was like her, Sophie had been eyeing her from time to time, only to realize she was anything but delicate. A bit scary, actually.

By the time she's sitting on the mat though, cooling off and wondering what to do next, Yulia is out of her mind...or at least she is until she walks right in again it by herself. She hadn't even heard her coming.

It's not that Sophie gets easily intimidated, but the girl's mere presence screams experience and danger. She's also prettier from up close, but Sophie has by now reached the conclusion most people at Falner had that going on for them.

"I got here yesterday, so I don't think I'm from anywhere just yet."

The girl's answer makes her raise an eyebrow. Just yesterday? And she was already this violent? Yulia can't help but smile, remembering her own first few days at a Netsach facility--Jotunheim, so many years ago. Of course, she wasn't this violent when she started, but she was sadistic enough to catch the attention of a few people, and to merit the avoidance of many more.

Their loss, really. Or... not, considering how her first blade ended up. But that was an entirely different issue, and neither here nor there.

She crosses her arms, eyebrow still raised. "A student at Balamb, then?" That would be interesting.

Sophie and violence had one too many pending business as of late. She didn't see that changing anytime soon either. It was the best outlet for what would otherwise be tears, and Sophie was not ready for them, not yet at least.

"I guess? Do all the conspiracies train here? Hikaru did give me the chance to pick whatever I wanted so..." It's more of an afterthought, the second part. Sophie is not yet convinced everyone ever knows who Hikaru Shinta is.

How wrong could you even get? Everyone ever does know who Hikaru Shinta is. Or at least, in passing: the Blade King of Japan, the Wolf of Zangyaku. Yulia could go on about Hikaru, if you asked her, but that can be for later.

Besides, there's only one 'Hikaru' worth mentioning when you're inside Falner. It made Yulia's lips twitch upward, slightly.

"Not really. Netsach, mostly. Falner is home to Liyab, Netsach's base in this country," she said, shrugging. "There are Hunters that have more than one license, however." Like herself. She's still Netsach, even though she shifted her primary conspiracy to Zangyaku as soon as she hit Fifth Circle and became a Sworn Wolfheart.

Which brought her to her second question: "Hikaru did not ask you to join a specific one?" She thought he'd have encouraged her to join Netsach first, at least. In all honesty, though, she would hold a grudge against the girl if Hikaru offered her a spot in Zangyaku off the bat. (At that, there's a faint laughter in her head, and there is a brief frown on Yulia's face--blink and you'll miss it.)

Maybe Sophie simply refuses to admit the man is that impressive; she knows it's not smart to give sass to someone like him...but she does anyway. "More than one? That sounds like a lot of work."

Standing up, Sophie gives an once over to this unexpected conversation partner. The frown doesn't go missing. "He said I could choose since the Kaiser had told him to do whatever arrangement needed." Anyone else would look pretty smug, but Sophie's expression was a bit troubled; the whole special case situation hadn't quite grown into her yet.

"Who are you anyway?"

That made her smile. Smirk, really. It was a lot of work, but it was work that Yulia loved to do.

"I am a dual-licensed Hunter, with Zangyaku and Netsach," she said, only half-answering the girl's question. She was a little distracted, thinking. It was already evident that Hikaru had taken interest in the girl. Yulia was, too, partly because of the Blade King's interest and partly of her own. So she decided to help, in her own way.

"What do you know of the conspiracies and compacts? Has Hikaru told you anything about them?"

She's not expecting this one to be all open and friendly, and in all honesty? She's glad someone can give her a bit of an attitude. It's almost refreshing.

"He gave me the main details. I asked him about joining Zangyaku and he said I need to be on the very top of the special cases in at least six months of staying here." Sophie shrugs as if the requisite wasn't the daunting task she knows it is. "Pretty straightforward, if you ask me."

Her eyebrow lifts again. Six months? Yulia tried, training almost nonstop for years, and only landed the top 2% of the world-- that was as far as she could go, as a deadwalker, someone who had no supernatural ability, and even then that was already impressive. Still. She had to wait another year and a half just to be promoted to Fifth Circle to enter Zangyaku.

"Straighforward for those who can't die," she said, sizing up this girl who seemed to think getting into Zangyaku was easy. How annoying.

At the back of her head, though, there's a laugh that never seemed to go away.

"What's that supposed to mean?" She was getting very obviously bad vibes from this girl now. "It sounds next to impossible, but it's hardly going to kill me."

But Sophie knows she can't just go around saying things like that when she's a newbie that has yet to do anything. "I take it you're Zangyaku?" She stares a Yulia some more. "Bladian?"

Yulia's smile was more of a sneer, really. "Careful, kid. You're biting off more than you can chew," she said, almost a hiss, eyes narrowed.

Her smile gets a little more sinister, if it could get any more nasty. So the kid is perceptive enough. Or she could Shift the Leaves.

"What if I am?"

"Am I?" This person is getting the best of her, fast. Either they'll get along or she'll be the reason Sophie gets kicked out of the mansion on a weekly basis.

She squints, although the smile is already on her lips. "Just a hunch. Takes one to know one, I guess."

Yulia snorts at that, a little incredulous at this cheeky girl.

(Doesn't it remind you of someone?) Laughs a voice in her head. She ignores it.

"There is a certain... bloodthirstiness about Bladians, I suppose," she says. She's itching for her knives, so she crosses her arms to her chest. No need to hurt the girl... yet.

If there is something Sophie's good at is making people mad. She's had a lot of practice with her family after all.

{I'd rather not have to inhabit someone with the regrettable disadvantage of missing limbs, so if you could refrain from inciting this stranger...}

Sophie's also ignoring the slightly disproving voice in her head. Her hands curl at her waist, where her katana is currently missing.

"You look perfectly under control, though."

"I've had years of practice," she smirks. Three years, plus that one Arcadian year. Four, technically. That, and her Singer was her sister, so... that made it a little easier. They got along.

She notices the other bladian's hand at her waist. "Itching for your blade? I'm up for a spar, if you are."

That was why she was here, too. A spar, and then some. Maybe the new kid wouldn't be such a disappointment.

"Seems like I'm not the only one itching."

It was a terrible idea. The girl was thinner than her, shorter than her. Perhaps only slightly older than her, but Sophie had been around enough fighters to know when she was outclassed. And yet, sometimes you just needed to get into a good beatdown and let it all happen.

"I am up for a spar, now that you mention it." Yes, a terrible idea.
