WHAT: The Hounds and their pet NPCs of the moment take a submarine up from the first of many sealed Avernian Gates
WHERE: Somewhere in the ocean, off the coasts of South America
WHEN: September 19, 2063 (7:00 PM to about 10:00 PM)
SAFE FOR WORK? Other than Drake's potty mouth? Probably.
OTHER NOTES: None!


[This submarine is typical Vice Military Solutions fare - that is, it's definitely more impressive than anything that the World of Light has to offer, but it's pretty average for any Keeper of the Vigil whose used to what Vice Enterprises has to offer with regard to transport.

You're all getting your own rooms to rest up in, and you have free reign of the ship right down to the bridge. You may want to lounge around in the large common area for crew and guests alike: it's got an impressive bar, and the cafeteria kitchen has been opened for your convenience.]

[He trails off a moment. Just because he's dealt with a fuckload doesn't mean that he's ever used to staring into a younger Keeper's eyes and pretty much laying it straight to them, for better or for worse.]

[He's not smiling anymore, but his expression is as gentle as it can possibly be, given what they're talking about.]

[ His smile is a little quiet, but he does mean it. ]

Just... thinking. [ He does lean forward as he lifts your hand to his lips though. ] It's just... stuff.

[And he's standing in the next moment, walking over, and planting another kiss right on your forehead. That's his way of saying You don't have to tell me yet without actually saying the words.]

I'll get my stuff and hunker down somewhere to work, then.

[ Josh is going to catch that hand of yours in turn and tug you back down so that he can lift his lips your way and kiss you right on that mouth.

He'll linger a bit, tell you Thank you in kind. ]

Catch you later? [ Saying that softly now. ]

Of course. I kind of can't go anywhere else as it is.

[Teasing just a bit, but the way he responded to your kiss was genuine.

He isn't going to push you. You'll come around if and when you need to.]

[ That makes him chuckle. ]

I think I'll go... check the place out. [ Not letting go of your hand just yet. You can both head back out together. ] Never been in a sub before.

[He's okay with this. The whole stepping out together thing, that is.]

Well, after a sub like this? You'll find all of the others that you might end up on boring.

[ That makes him smile. ]

[ There's a brief pause before he leans in to press a kiss to your cheek, and then he's stepping away with a final squeeze of your hand. ]

[Have a smile and a sad little shake of his head.]

I don't accept your apology, because you're only apologizing because you cried on me. [A ghost of a smirk, at that.] I can't tell you everything will be okay or some other trite bullshit, but for what it's worth, if there's a way, we'll find it. I know we will.

[He conjures a cup of tea done the Russian way (very black, very strong, quite sweet) on a saucer for you. For some reason he pegs you for a sweet tooth. Anyway, if he's wrong, he's a Matter mage, there's an easy fix.]

Here. I think I read somewhere that Russians actually drink more tea than vodka. Let's break tradition a bit.

[ The sound she makes is half-sob, half-laugh. She shakes her head, moves to push the cup and saucer away, but takes it anyway. ]

You stereotype me, [ she says, sniffing. ] I prefer coffee. [ She says it as she brings the cup to her lips, taking a whiff of the calming tea, then takes a sip. ]

I don't know how.

[ She's crumbling, breaking down slowly. She's crying again, before she even notices it, one hand gripping the hilt of the Makhai blade tightly. ]

[That makes him move right over to sit down beside you and wrap you up in his arms. He's normally a lot more careful about your boundaries and your personal space, but... this is kind of a big deal.]

Do what you always do. [Saying that softly.] Focus yourself on a goal, work hard to get there, cut everything that stands in your way.

[ She shrinks when Hikaru sits next to her and folds his arms around her. It's strange how his mere presence is keeping her from completely breaking down. There hasn't been anyone like that to her since... Since Marcin, or her sister.

She nods, then rests her forehead on his shoulder. If she's still crying, he won't see it. ]

...I'll try.

[ Quiet for another moment as he strokes her hair and holds her close. ]

Promise me? Promise me that you'll try?

I promise.

[ Her voice might have been soft, but she'd placed all the resolve she could muster behind it. If she didn't try... it was as good as giving up. ]

That's my girl.

[ Because he is allowed to think of you that way, isn't he? Because you have, in words and in deeds, showed him that you do not mind, that you'll follow him as far as you can possibly go.

It never gets easier, knowing that so many hearts and bodies place themselves in his hands. He has, however, gone too far and done too much to give up. Besides, not playing his role to a tee wouldn't be fair to any of them, right?

Anyway. Gently reaching down and cupping your face with one hand, Yulia. He's still smiling, and you'll see nothing else but warmth in his eyes when he looks at you. ]

We've still got a long way to go before we hit the surface. Get some rest? Or food, or booze.

[ Whatever helps you feel better, yeah? ]

[ She meets his gaze, but she looks away a moment later, nodding. ]

I will... But...

[ There's a moment of hesitation, and her shoulders slump slightly. ]

Can I stay here for a while longer...?

Of course you can.

[ Okay, he can't resist it. Pressing a brief kiss right on the top of your forehead. ]

I do appreciate the company.

[ She huffs at the kiss (Anya laughs at her), and she sniffs, suddenly feeling very shy and embarrassed about it.

But she stays. She pulls herself up on the seat and curls up next to Hikaru. ]
