When he hears the man addressing him, he actually came close to jerking in shock due to how absorbed he was in his reading. But thankfully, he looks up to regard him with one raised eyebrow and a look of mild surprise.

He replies while as he glances just in time to see Will stumble face first on the mat after being tripped by Sipho. Emily, meanwhile, had slipped through Lazare's guard before moving to deliver a swipe with a partially shifted hand.
