Not a single person in Taskforce Valkyrie doesn’t know about the conspiracy’s glorious history, particularly the historical records and accounts from the conspiracy’s precursor in the HECATON Special Operations Unit. Named for the many-armed monster both because of what it symbolizes and because they wanted to do homage to the Unit’s “mascot” Brigade, HECATON made the Taskforce what it is today, right down to the values that the conspiracy is supposed to uphold.
Once the conspiracy within Taskforce Valkyrie’s conspiracy, operating in secret within their own organization with the express goal of reforming Taskforce Valkyrie before the end of 2012. HECATON is the actual “head” of the institutional beast that the Taskforce is in tonight's Vigil, comprised of the best that the conspiracy has to offer. Their members are 70% supernatural, and operate off the books. The remaining 30% are Deadwalkers (or secretly Sleepwalkers) who moved things within TFV and the American government for their companions. Joshua Larue's rise as a Malice King, however, marked HECATON's break away from Taskforce Valkyrie following the rising dark within the Vigil, and the corruption within their own ranks.
HECATON’s agenda goes far, FAR beyond creating a safe and friendly Vigil for the Americas and any friend to the United States. They’re out to reform their own Taskforce, preparing it for the coming of the New Age – something that is only going to happen after they stop the Apocalypse. They’re out to purify the Vigil, to restore it to what it was meant to be the day that the Dragon decided to form the Methuselah. They’re out to bring an end to this war between the Kings, and the best way that they’ve determined how to act on that is to continue helping Hikaru Shinta and Riley Falner. They plan on doing this at all costs, even if it means fighting their own comrades.
Joshua re-established HECATON Special Operations a little before the Ides of March. He initially moved the Phantom Corps under Netsach for HECATON's own protection, but the compact is starting to gain enough clout to stand on its own two feet. Josh, we note, has recently accepted the fact that he is a Malice King.

After the dust settled from the fighting, Commanders Lincoln Hawke and Angela Brennan decided that it would be best if they angled for Jill to become the new face of their conspiracy. Jill followed along with the plan, and ended up rising quickly within the ranks after displaying a savvy for navigating military circles and commanding respect in spite of her sex. She was voted in as Lincoln’s replacement by the US government without a hitch, and was thus attributed by official sources as the first “real” commander of Taskforce Valkyrie.
Joshua Larue is practically family to Jill because of her intimate relationship with his younger sister Cindy. Jill and Cindy have been a done deal, as they say, since the 1930s.

Renegade elements within Taskforce Valkyrie - likely influenced by the Other World, or by the Exarchs - attempted to frame Jill for the 9/11 bombing of the Twin Towers. Concentrated efforts on the part of HECATON and other elements within the United Vigil managed to stave things off until the Ides. HECATON then took it upon themselves to pull their commander out and bring her home.
Jillian Andrews and Connor Ridley are the love story that could have been. That might be one of the other reasons why Jill is taking his death in Mexico particularly hard.

The truth of the matter is, Lincoln has been on American soil since the Civil War, carving out a place for a conspiracy that could one day rise to help his sire and father figure Riley. Everything he has done, he has done in the name of a Vigil that could stood for the principles that the Methuselah once embodied. Taskforce Valkryie wouldn't have been able to rise so high were it not for Hawke's efforts.
Hawke is like a father to all of the "originals" in Special Operations, most especially to Brigade, Josh, Cindy, and Jill. Some of them, in fact, are much more attached to him now than before, with the deaths of their mortal families. Hawke himself views all of HECATON as his family. He wouldn't be this close to Golconda without them, for they have always taught him what it means to be human.

Hawke was, in many ways, Rilea Heartnet's real nemesis in North America. Prior to her unbinding from the God Machine and gaining free will, they were the ones fighting for control over the continent. That's all water under the bridge now, though.
The Daywalker line is recognized by Kindred scholars as a "proto-Bloodine", distinct from the Five Clans of the Fifth World because on top of the ability to learn the blood secrets of all of the Clans, its clan members have access to Disciplines that were thought to have been lost with the first Long Day. Hawke appears to be Riley Falner's only childe.

Babs stayed behind in Taskforce Valkyrie for as long as she could, all in the hopes of using her clout to convinced more of the conspiracy to see the World of Darkness as potential allies or fellow denizens of the Fifth World instead of as enemies. Case in point: the fact that Miriam came back from the dead in a fashion similar to those horrific ghost stories on vengeful dead spouses. The only one who’s feeling the horror here is the Good Doctor, though; HECATON was only too happy to welcome Miriam to the Barrett Commission. The price for her loyalty? Giving her all the means of putting an end to her husband and anyone who was associated with him.
With the upheavals caused by the Ides of March and the total collapse of the Veil, Miriam is one of the only US Senators who is friendly to the United Vigil's cause. She's got her work cut out for her now moreso than ever.

It’ll be pretty obvious to any who know the truth that HECATON truly is a Brennan family legacy. Cindy’s older brother Joshua worked behind the scenes of the Taskforce as Galahad for an incredibly long time, and is now the commander of HECATON Special Operations. Their parents are on the record as two of the original 2,500 of the Phantom Corps, and were Lincoln Hawke's close friends.
Cindy is Jill’s wife; they took the first chance they had to marry each other once same-sex marriages went legal in their home state. The fact that Jill is going to go before she has barely started to live her life as a Card doesn't seem to bother Cindy. That she and Jill had anything to begin with is already enough for her, it seems.

A mouthy hothead off the field and a stone cold super soldier once he’s on it, Angel was the first to undergo SPECTRE training program designed by Angela and Hawke following the end of World War II. To date, he possesses the highest mission success rate, second only to Joshua Larue and Brigade. Official Taskforce records of Angel state that he was killed in action during the Gulf War. His death was convenient for the Phantom Corps, as that allowed them to have a free asset roaming around, doing wet work for their side of the conspiracy.
Prior to Alistair Mordechai’s prison break, Angel was in charge of HECATON’s Middle Eastern initiatives because it was the closest position that Special Operations could get to the Seer without arousing suspicion. He remained in the Middle East in order to monitor his conspiracy’s assets and take on some difficult engagements for Lincoln Hawke, but quietly dropped off the radar in favor of high-tailing it to the Philippines when things started getting hot. He then made his way back to America once accusations against Jillian Andrews started flying around. The Riskbreaker was one of the last of the Cabinet to pull out of America after the Ides.

What should have been a fatal fall down the basement stairs of her home became the precedent for Pippa’s Bargain with the Boy Without Legs, and the end of her abusive husband. Pippa stuck it out in the FBI while keeping her powers a secret for as long as she could, but inevitably ending up catching the attention of Taskforce Valkryie. Like August Barnes, she was one of the Order of the Grateful Dead’s allies within the system, and played an instrumental part in the offensive against the Watcher in the Dark.
Prior to the Ides of March, Pippa was one of HECATON’s shadow operatives; her name was not listed within the Taskforce’s roster so that she can keep her position in the Bureau. However, now that Josh has rallied everyone in Special Ops to him, Pippa took the first opportunity to disappear and rejoin her comrades.

As such, he made it his life’s mission to wake the Daywalker up, and assist his closest confidants as best as he could from his position. Suffice to say, his efforts have paid off.
Director Foreman stuck it out on the home front for as long as he could prior to the Ides of March. He was one of the last to respond to Joshua Larue’s call for Special Operations’ people to head on home. Now he’s back on American soil to assist the President of the United States.

Rather than run, however, he soldiered right on all the way to the end, and was brought into the Barrett Commission as a result.
August’s directive prior to the Ides was to rise within the ranks of Interpol, and monitor things for the Vigil from that institution. At the moment, however, he is one of HECATON’s primary liaisons with World of Light law enforcement.

They say that her almost obsessive desire to involve herself in the World of Darkness and find answers for her conspiracy was what led to her awakening.
Harume is one of the few Other World specialists that the United Vigil has on their payroll, and she also happens to be one of the best. At this moment, Commander Larue has her leading mixed cells of research teams on Falner.

VIRTUAL WARDEN OF TAFT BASE ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE CONSTRUCT
Not exactly a who, but a what – but in this World of Darkness and tonight’s Vigil, who can say that such a distinction is fair? Either way, ALECSIS is an AI construct recently put online within Taft Base by the Science & Technology Division. This is a part of the Taskforce Valkyrie tradition of having a singular super-intelligent entity handle the day-to-day of a power base while serving as CIC and personal assistant to the operatives it’s taking care of. Her appearance was inspired, primarily, by the character of EDI from the Mass Effect trilogy, but there’s a far more interesting story behind her face – or morbid story, depending on who’s asking.

HECATON scientists occasionally base the AIs that they construct on fallen comrades, or HECATON operatives in the past who did admirable work for the conspiracy within the academe or the medical fields, or through their investigations on TFV-controlled soil. ALECSIS, for example, is based off of a beloved Caucasian nurse that sacrificed her own welfare in order to keep as many soldiers of Corregidor Island alive as she could during World War II.

Katy’s angelic voice and waifish appearance add to a curious disconnect to anyone who has seen her on the field, or seen her trundling around Taft Base. Katy certainly isn’t the only Bladian in HECATON, but she is most definitely the best one they’ve got on their payroll. The only person who exceeds her is her mentor Josh, and he doesn’t exactly count.
Josh called Katy to Taft Base in order to give Lenny some ample backup that they could BOTH trust with pretty much everything that’s happening down in the Philippines, and to give Lenny a little more wiggle room. Little did he know that having Katy around would mean having another person who was capable of bullying him within close proximity.

Jonathan did not hesitate to join the Barrett Commission the moment he saw what they could do for him, and what he could do for them. He’s rising up in the ranks fast as the number one senatorial bid of the Republican Party, although campaigning for his cause has taken a bit of a backseat as he’s shifted his attentions towards helping his newfound allies beyond the Veil out.
At present, Jonathan is diverting the assets and properties of his companies to Vigil use. His money is partially funding the propaganda that the Vice Conglomerate needs to make their side look favorable to an incredibly paranoid, Deadwalking majority.

Jon isn't about to say it out loud, but people who know him best (like, let's say, his own son) can tell that he's rather happy to play host to the Sleeping Knights in his home. They've taken a shine to him too, from the looks of it.
Given how proximity deepens sympathetic ties, and sympathetic ties are one of the root causes behind the manifestation of supernatural powers, it's entirely possible that Jonathan will awaken soon. The fact that the Watchtowers has fallen is just upping the probability on that.

The grandson of Yukito Kurogane – an operative of HECATON 005, “Welles” – a talented Minstrel, and the latest recipient of the Grand Songs of the Kurogane Clan. He was one of Joshua Larue’s trusted operatives, assigned to assist the Order of the Grateful Dead. September 11, 2001 cost Hatsuharu the use of one of his legs. The magitech for rehabilitating such an injury exists, but no treatment appears to have been effective – the damage may be psychological in as much as it is physical. Nevertheless, Haru has a bit of a reputation for being perfectly capable of handing a vet’s ass back to him with just his one, good leg.
Haru, like other children of the "originals" of Special Operations, is eligible to become a part of Lincoln's Cabinet. People have asked him about what he intends to do in that direction now that HECATON is its own compact. Haru hasn't said much.

She approached HECATON about training after the war ended, and as soon as she received her colors, she returned, triumphant, to her benefactor to help her set Brent up. Pleasant and warm to anyone she meets, Halo’s a bleeding heart who seems to have made it her personal mission to Take Care of People – unless, of course, you threaten the safety of her people.
Halo left her post at Brent International School in order to man Taft Base. She set things up at Medical for Hatsuharu Kurogane, her current superior.

Segan and her brother Ralph were sent down to Brent by their father, a member of the Barrett Commission who greatly admires the school that’s attempting to fulfill the Daywalker’s dreams for a Hunting Academy. Segan grew up on stories of Angela Brennan, the Angel of HECATON Special Operations Unit. It’s been her dream since she was little to become a part of Taskforce Valkyrie – and now she’s gotten her wish granted. Sure, things are a little uncertain and a lot scary, but this is a time for heroes, NOT for cowards.

A transfer student from Washington D.C., brought down to the Philippines by her parents following her father’s new assignment as the USA’s ambassador to the country, and because both of her parents heard about HECATON’s new base within Corregidor Island. That she’s going to be a part of the Phantom Corps was never a question for Eve. She set her mind to becoming the best damned new recruit she could be once she graduated, because she was determined to demand some answers from her family and “family” within the conspiracy. All of them, of course, pertained to the peculiar nature of her abilities.

Clark’s the youngest in the Peterson Family, with three of his older brothers serving in HECATON Special Operations and his eldest brother helping his parents with the other aspect of the family business. Said aspect happens to be supplying military, corporate, and medical institutions on American soil with the best aid and K-9 dogs people can get.
The Petersons are particularly attached to the Philippines because Clark's father ended up making friends with some of his comrades-in-arms from Manila out on the battlefields of Vietnam. Later on, when things settled down some, he established another leg of his business in Manila with the help of his new barkada. As such, Clark and his brothers have spent their lives shuttling between the States and the Philippines.

To date, he possesses the highest mission success rate, second only to Joshua Larue and Brigade. Official Taskforce records of Angel state that he was killed in action during the Gulf War. His death was convenient for the Phantom Corps, as that allowed them to have a free asset roaming around, doing wet work for their side of the conspiracy.
Prior to Alistair Mordechai’s prison break, Angel was in charge of HECATON’s Middle Eastern initiatives because it was the closest position that Special Operations could get to the Seer without arousing suspicion. He remained in the Middle East in order to monitor his conspiracy’s assets and take on some difficult engagements for Lincoln Hawke, but quietly dropped off the radar in favor of high-tailing it to the Philippines when things started getting hot. He then made his way back to America once accusations against Jillian Andrews started flying around. The Riskbreaker was one of the last of the Cabinet to pull out of America after the Ides.

The magitech for rehabilitating such an injury exists, but no treatment appears to have been effective – the damage may be psychological in as much as it is physical. Nevertheless, Haru has a bit of a reputation for being perfectly capable of handing a vet’s ass back to him with just his one, good leg.
Haru, like other children of the "originals" of Special Operations, is eligible to become a part of Lincoln's Cabinet. People have asked him about what he intends to do in that direction now that HECATON is its own compact. Haru hasn't said much.
